5x + 1 - x = 6x + 1 - 5x + 8

Someone please solve this for me and explain it step by step please please this, just this is worth three vital points. So yeah please :(

1. Combine like terms. (add the x’s on side 1. add the x’s on side 2.  add the whole numbers on side 2)

4x+1=x+9

2.  Put like terms on the same side.  (move the x to the left of the equal sign by subtracting x from both sides.  what ever you do to one side of the equation, you have to do to the other. then move the whole numbers to the right side of the equal sign by subtracting 1 from each side.

3x = 8

3. Divide 3x by 3 so that only x is remaining.  Divide 8 by 3 too because what ever you do to the left side of the equation you have to do to the right.

x=8/3 or 2 & 1/3
